The Gingerbread Man

Once was a little old house
With a little old woman and a man, her spouse
No kids, was what they had
She was no mom and he was no dad
She wished, that she had one
To have a little boy would be such a lotta fun
She tried to make a man
Out of gingerbread in a cookie dough pan

Put in, the oven to bake
And then taken out, what a cookie to make
Dressed up with icing stuff
And little candy buttons made him look real buff
Up stood, the gingerbread boy
And he leaped up high and he jumped for joy
He ran, away from that place
'Cause they couldn't keep up and they couldn't keep pace

Man called, from way far back
“You're a cookie made for eating, and I'd like a snack”
G-boy, he turned around
And he called out loud so he heard this sound
“Run, run, as fast as you can”
You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man”
I'll run from you I can,
'Cause I'm the gingerbread boy and the gingerbread man."

Came to, a great big cow
That said to him, “I'd like to eat right now
Yum, Yum, I'd surely like a chew
You're a cookie made for eating, I can see that's true"
G-boy, he turned around
And he looked at the cow and he made this sound
“Run, run, as fast as you can
You can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man,
I'll run from you I can
I ran from the woman and I ran from the man

Came to, a nice pink pig
That said to him, “My, you look so big”
Come close, I can take a bite
You're a cookie made for eating, I can see all right”
G-boy, he turned around
And he looked at the pig and he made this sound
“Run, run, as fast as you can
You can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man,
I'll run from you I can
I ran from the woman and I ran from the man
Then too, I ran from the cow
So I can run from you 'cause I know just how”

Came to a pretty white duck
Which did quack to him, “Wow, am I in luck
Quick bite just would taste so fine
You're a cookie made for eating, and it's time to dine!”
G-boy, he turned around
And he looked at him and he made this sound,
“Run, run, as fast as you can
You can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man,
I'll run from you I can
I ran from the woman and I ran from the man
Then too, I ran from the cow,
I ran from the pig, and I'll run from you now”

Came to a fluffy white sheep
That said, "What a snack you'd make before my sleep!
My mouth would like a taste
You're a cookie made for eating, you won't go to waste!"
G-boy he turned around,
And he looked at him and he made this sound,
"Run, run, as fast as you can
You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man
I'll run from you, I can
I ran from the woman and I ran from the man
Then too, I ran from the cow
And I ran from the pig and the duck just now."

Came to a little smart dog
Who said to him, "Wow, you sure can jog
Why don't you take a rest?
You're a cookie made for eating that I'd like to test"
G-boy he turned around,
And he looked at him and he made this sound,
"Run, run, as fast as you can
You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man
I'll run from you, I can
I ran from the woman and I ran from the man
Then too, I ran from the cow
And I ran from the pig and the duck just now
I ran from the fluffy white sheep
And I'll run from you with a great big leap."

Came to a great big horse
Who said to him, "I'd like to eat, of course
Just ate grass a growin' in the dirt
You're a cookie made for eating, and I'd like dessert."
G-boy, he turned around,
And he looked at him, and he made this sound
"Run, run, as fast as you can
You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man
I'll run from you, I can
I ran from the woman and I ran from the man
Then too, I ran from the cow
And I ran from the pig and the duck just now
I ran from the fluffy white sheep
And I ran form the dog with my gingerbread feet."

Then came a quick red fox
By a great big river with no way across
Said to the fox right there
“Do you know a way that goes from here to there?”
“Oh yeah there's an easy way
Just hop upon my back, I can swim today”
“O K, guess I'm in a crunch
There's a crowd back there that wants me for lunch”
On to the fox's fur
Climbed the gingerbread man though he wasn't quite sure

Fox swam in the water real clear
But the river got deeper and the cookie starts to fear
“Don't fret,” said the fox so red
“Climb up from my back right upon my head”
G-man, he stepped right up
And stood on the head of the swimming foxy pup
Scared stiff as the water rose
But the Foxy said, “You can climb upon my nose”
Out crept the little brown man
And stood upon the place where the snout began

Fox jerked, from North to South
And flipped the brown cookie right inside his mouth
“Run, run, as fast as you....erk”
And upon the fox's face was a gingerbread smirk
Fox ate the gingerbread man
He was really very tricky with a great game plan
He did what a good fox would
And the cookie tasted yummy and the cookie tasted good
Don't fret, and don't react
Cause a cookie's made for eating, it's a well known fact
